We understand the questions and concerns for an aging loved one can be never ending. We are committed to assisting with both family and Senior questions so that every question is answered making the transition of this change easier. Change is never easier but our goal is to make it easier. The transition of a Senior to assisted living is not an end… It is a new beginning.

What types of care services are available?

Hollander Senior Living offers Personal Care and Memory Care in select communities. Our programs are designed to support residents’ independence, socialization and safety.

After the initial assessment, are routine health assessments performed?

Yes. Each resident receives an initial assessment and scheduled health assessments thereafter.

Is care available for people with Alzheimer’s disease & other forms of memory loss?

Yes. Residents with memory challenges enjoy a separate, secured neighborhood in the Senior Living community which offers increased staffing as well as staff specially trained in dementia care on duty 24/7.

Does Hollander Senior Living accept hospice patients?

Yes, hospice and palliative care is available through our preferred providers.

What happens if my loved one needs skilled nursing?

From time to time, residents may need rehabilitation in a skilled nursing facility. We can assist residents and their families with locating a skilled nursing facility within a defined radius of our community. This allows us to follow up on our residents’ care and prepare for his or her return to Hollander Senior Living. If a permanent transfer becomes necessary, we encourage families to visit http://www.medicare.gov/ to view the “Nursing Home Comparison” section, which rates nursing homes in an area based on ZIP codes within a 10-20 mile radius.

How is the care staff at Hollander Senior Living trained?

Our staff includes Certified Nursing and Medication Aides and Licensed nurses. All staff receives orientation and 40 hour initial training and ongoing annual education through industry experts and leaders. Our education and training program training is designed to understand the aging process both physically and emotionally and identify Best Practices in providing care and service to seniors. Staff members who work with Alzheimer’s and Dementia residents receive additional and specialized training.

Is there a full-time nurse on-site?

Hollander Senior Living is committed to high standards in safety, service and care, which includes full time nurses.

Is the staff screened before hiring?

Yes. Background checks including criminal, licensure and competency are completed on all staff prior to hire.

Are different floor plans available?

Each Hollander Senior Living Community has a variety of floor plans to meet the needs and preferences of residents. Residences include studios, one-, and two-bedroom floor plans. Select apartments have patios, porches or decks. Availability varies by community so please check with the Hollander Senior Living community that interests you.

Can my loved one have overnight guests?

Yes. As all apartments are private a resident may host an overnight guest.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, small pets are allowed if the resident is able to care for the pet. The resident must provide Hollander Senior Living with copies of recent vaccinations and evidence that the pet is on a flea control program. Please check with the Hollander Senior Living community that interests you to inquire about its specific policies.

Can residents transfer from one Hollander Senior Living Community to another?

Yes. Your loved one can transfer to another community without having to pay the community fee again. The transition is easy from assessment to move-in.

Do you require a long-term contract?

No. Since rent is month to month, our Resident Service Agreement reflects your specific needs and costs, and provides for cancellation with 30 days notice.

Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?

Medicare and Medicaid are not available funding sources for general expenses of assisted living. We accept private pay and long term care insurance.

Are my expenses tax deductible?

Costs of certain services may have a tax advantage. Please consult with your personal tax advisor to see if these advantages apply to you.

What amenities are available to residents?

Every detail at Hollander Senior Living has been carefully considered for the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of residents. All communities include comfortable great rooms and gathering places for spending time with family and friends. Our kitchen where our chefs prepare fresh meals and snacks daily, a salon for hair styling and nail care, special areas for socializing, and places to enjoy the outdoors. Weekly housekeeping and laundry service are included as well as utilities including cable service.

What about food service? Can you accommodate special diets?

At Hollander Senior Living, residents and guests enjoy nutritious and delicious meals and snacks prepared daily by on-site chefs using only the freshest ingredients. Diners choose from more than 24 daily menu items and are served restaurant-style by a courteous and well-trained staff. We also accommodate residents with special diets. Additionally, arrangements can be made for private meals with family and friends.

What are some typical community events?

There’s always something to do at Hollander Senior Living. From art classes to lectures to socials and excursions, our full-time activities director keeps the calendar filled with entertaining opportunities, including celebrations of all sorts. Residents are encouraged to choose activities that suit their own interests and to participate in as many as they like. Please ask the activities coordinator at the Hollander Senior Living community that you are considering for a sample activities calendar.

Do you provide transportation?

Hollander Senior Living provides scheduled transportation for doctor’s visits and outings including trips to museums, performances, and for shopping. Individual transportation needs can be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.

Can families participate in some of the outings with their loved one(s)?

In most cases, the answer to this question is yes. Please check with the Activity Programs Coordinator to ensure there is availability.

What physical activities are available to residents?

Residents are encouraged to participate in daily exercise including fitness class, walking club and fitness equipment designed for seniors.

What about housekeeping and laundry services?

Weekly linens are provided as part of the monthly rent. Individual laundry and additional housekeeping services can be provided at an additional charge.

How is Hollander Senior Living licensed?

Every Hollander Senior Living community is licensed by the state of Georgia. Audits of operating conditions, including patient care and safety, are conducted regularly by the State Agency and Department of Health.
